The goal was to digitize a traditional game (Tower of Hanoi). We used Unity to make the game, in the hopes of releasing it to other platforms too. My friend, Rayner Tan, programmed the game while I supplied him with the assets.
Originally, we were going for a minimalistic and flat artstyle for the game. However, in order to achieve the sense of "connecting with the past", we thought it would be a great idea to put a little context onto the sprites. Hence, the 3 different towers, representing the 3 priests.
I used photoshop to draw the sprites including the three towers and the rings. I wanted to show similarity between the towers by their shape, but also wanted to make them individually unique with different colours and actions. I managed to do simple animation for the towers with an average of 14 frames.
